Opportunities to serve with Glasgow City Mission

Plans are quickly coming together for an emergency night shelter for the winter months. This will be opening at the old Glasgow City Mission building on McAlpine Street from 4 December 2011.

They are recruiting the following staff and volunteers to man this exciting and essential service.

Staff

3 x full-time staff for three months:

  • 38.5 hours/week (average)
  • £9.50/hour
  • shifts 11 hours each, 9.30pm – 8.30am

2 x part-time staff for three months:

  • 14 hours/week (average)
  • £9.50/hour
  • shifts 4 hours each (9.45pm – 1.45am

Volunteers

They are looking for people who:

  • can commit to a regular night shift each week for the three months
  • can commit to at least three night shifts
  • can organise a team from their church to provide all the volunteers needed for a week of night shifts (2 volunteers per night)

They are also urgently seeking volunteers to help at their Child and Family Centre in Govan at least a day a week, 9.30am – 1pm, Monday – Friday.

A variety of roles are available, including classroom assistants, help with administration and cleaning.
