Fit for a King: holiday club

Our annual holiday club will run from Monday 30 June – Friday 4 July 2014 at the Church. The title this year is Fit for a King.

We are excited about inviting lots of children to have fun and learn about Jesus.

If you’d like to get involved as part of the team, please speak to Valerie Sim. There will be a meeting to look at the material on Tuesday 20 May 2014 at 7.30pm.

Message from Lynn Leitch

Today we had a lot of celebration for the birthday of our youngest team member, Johnny Shaw, who was 17. The nurses spent a lot of time decorating the place and he had 2 cakes as well as lots of versions of the ‘Happy Birthday’ song. He will never forget this birthday in India!

We drove to another IREF church to dedicate the new building. Much like yesterday, the whole village turned out to celebrate and we were given a very ‘hearty welcome’. These churches truly are the centre of the villages and will reach out to the community in many ways.

Tonight we had a lovely, but sad, farewell and thanksgiving service in the orphanage campus. Everyone gathered and we were presented with gifts and got to say a few words to the children. It will be hard to leave them as we have made very strong bonds with them.

We have done some packing and are beginning to prepare for leaving tomorrow evening.

Please pray for the new church we visited today. Pray that the pastor will be equipped to be everything he needs to be for that congregation. Pray that men, women and children will find the truth there as well as have their many physical needs met.

Pray for the team as we pack and get ready to come home.

IREF trip 2014

As many will know, a UK team travels to IREF every two years in order to provide a range of medical services to the children who stay there. The next trip is scheduled for 1-15 February 2014.

There are ten people committed to the trip this time, including nurses, dentists, a doctor, an optician and a number of others. They really need your help in raising a fundraising target of £20,000.

If you would like to support this fundraising effort, please visit the IREF 2014 JustGiving page.

Catch up with what happened during the last trip in 2012.

Opportunities to serve our young people

May is almost upon us and summer is just around the corner. During the summer months, our usual activities for young people also take a break, including Kids @ ABC and Bible Class.

We aim to run a Summer Sunday School during our morning services during July and August. If you would be interested in helping out, please contact Jo Ramsay.

We also plan to run a holiday club during the first week of July. If you are interested in helping, please contact Valerie Sim.

A hearty welcome

Our intrepid travellers have now arrived in Repalle. Having survived a journey on the train, with all the facilities it offered, they arrived at 6am to a hearty welcome at IREF.

The team were presented with colourful flowers garlands / malas (it remains to be seen if Jim Leitch will bring his to church on his return) and Emmanuel prayed for them as they arrived.

The children of IREF were also there to greet the volunteers. They will all receive medical and dental check ups over the coming weeks…let the work commence!
