Service updates and return to singing

It is encouraging to see restrictions steadily lifting. As a Church, we continue to abide by the rules on public gatherings and will, for the time being, continue with the split congregation approach.

We are excited to say that we will be able to resume congregational singing from Sunday 25 July.

The Deacons will review arrangements again in August and will update the Church as soon as things change.

Streaming only during lockdown

Having hoped to return to in-person services, today’s news about a move to lockdown immediately after Christmas also means a return to streaming only services.

This does not affect the service on Sunday 20 December, with Group A still welcome to join us in the building.

We will continue to follow the official advice and inform you as soon as anything changes.

Tier 3 return to Church services

Following North Lanarkshire’s move to Tier 3 of COVID-19 restrictions, the Deacons have decided to open the Church to congregations once more.

The limited number restrictions are still in place, so group A will return on Sunday 20 December, with group B attending the following week. Each group will attend every other week until further notice.

Services will continue to be streamed live on YouTube each Sunday morning. If you’d like to find out more, please contact pastoral@airdriebaptist.co.uk.

Streamed services from Newton Mearns Baptist

From this Sunday, Newton Mearns Baptist Church have invited us to join with them as they live-stream their services on YouTube.

They’ll begin at 10am each Sunday morning.

To receive notifications every time a new service is broadcast, subscribe to their channel and click the bell button.

COVID-19: all meetings cancelled

In line with government advice in these exceptional circumstances, all services at Airdrie Baptist Church are cancelled for the foreseeable future. This includes Sunday services, prayer meetings and house groups.

However, we  have been invited to join online with Newton Mearns Baptist in the live streaming of their services. This service will take place ‪at 10am‬ every ‪Sunday morning‬. More details to follow.

We know this is an uncertain time and we are determined to keep in touch as much as possible. Please tell your friends who may not have access to this message.

Heating system replacement in January

We are upgrading our church heating system the week beginning Monday 22 January 2018.

The replacement will take all week to install and will mean that all groups that meet in the Church during that time will be cancelled, including Toddlers, JAM and the Airdrie Foodbank.

It is hoped that our Sunday services won’t be affected by this work but we will keep people informed of any changes.

Summer arrangements at ABC

Summer is upon us (no really, it is) and as such, we are making some changes to our regular meetings as detailed below.

Sunday evenings

There will be no evening services 5 July – 9 August.  These will resume on Sunday 16 August at 6.30pm.

Kids @ ABC will finish up on Sunday 28 June, however there will still be a Sunday Club running during the morning service throughout July and August.

Please remember that our holiday club, ‘Go Overboard!’, runs from Monday 29 June – Friday 3 July.

Midweek meetings

The Wednesday prayer meeting and home fellowships have now stopped for the Summer and will resume from Wednesday 26 August.  The youth programme has already stopped and will return once the schools recommence.

Ross discusses changes to our evening services

We caught up with our Pastor Ross Murphy to discuss the changes to our Sunday evening services.  He explained why the Church had decided to make the changes, what they are, when they come into effect and how people can get involved.

Sunday evening changes

Sunday evening changes

Please remember to pray for the new evening services which will begin in October – just a fortnight’s time.

Next week I’ll write a much fuller article to accompany the newsletter reminding us what these changes are, why we’re making them and how we’re going to proceed in more detail, but let’s start praying in earnest now. Continue reading “Sunday evening changes”
