Update from Ross

“They go from strength to strength.”- Psalm 84:7

“The promise… still holds good: “The youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” Fretful spirits sit down and trouble themselves about the future. “Alas!” say they, “we go from affliction to affliction.” Very true, O thou of little faith, but then thou goest from strength to strength also. Thou shalt never find a bundle of affliction which has not bound up in the midst of it sufficient grace. God will give the strength of ripe manhood with the burden allotted to full-grown shoulders.”

CH Spurgeon

Thank you for all of your messages, cards, expressions of love and concern, thank you above all for your prayers. These are difficult days but we are experiencing the Lord’s ‘sufficient grace’ and I’m certain your prayers play no small part in that.

It’s difficult to be away from the Fellowship, it’s tough to give so little to something I love so much, but please be assured of my prayers for you. I’m praying not just for us in the trials many of us are facing, but giving thanks for the blessings we are enjoying and the opportunities we have been given in these days too.

I know some people have been looking for specifics to pray for, here is how you can intercede for me in the coming days:

  • Pre-op scan and bloods tomorrow (Monday 23 April). This is the scan the surgeon will use during the operation to guide him.
  • Operation (Tuesday 31 March). Please pray the surgeon would be able to safely remove all of the worst parts of the tumour, and as much of the rest as possible.
  • Further treatment. The tumour now looks resistant to the chemo I’ve been on, but there is another type of chemo which may still work, alternatively I might be given radiotherapy.
  • Please pray for Deborah, Katie, Grace and our families.

Thank you again for your surrounding us with true Christian love
